We ended our three-year run of this monthly 4th-Tuesday movie and discussion night on Nov. 28, 2017. Perhaps the series will reincarnate as a week-long festival at some point… stay tuned! In the meantime, our programs are listed here for reference by the other communities that periodically take a look at what we’re doing here in Portland.
Curated by filmmaker Cathy Zheutlin & Lani Jo Leigh, owner of the Clinton Street Theater; discussion led by Holly Pruett & special guests. Admission by donation; suggested $5-10.
Please note, these films are not offered to promote a particular point of view and are not Death Cafés. They are a chance to look at how filmmakers are approaching the topic of death and to discuss that approach with others.
From 2016–2019 the Death Talk Project organized workshops, rituals, Death Cafés, a monthly movie night, and other events. This legacy site documents our approach to useful, honest conversation about how we die, how we mourn, and how we care for and remember our dead.
